It is a new year of hope

Posted by Chris Norman

The new year usually begins with hopes and dreams of what “could be” for 2009.  This is not only true when it comes to our spiritual lives but also in other areas as well.  Take for example the Detroit Lions. I know they were terrible in 2008.  Well, maybe more than terrible.  They were the worst team ever in the history of the NFL.

December 28, 2008

GREEN BAY 31, DETROIT 21

It’s history: Lions fall to 0-16

The Lions have done the impossible. After giving up 17 fourth-quarter points to the Packers and losing, 31-21, today at Lambeau Field, Detroit becomes the first NFL team to go 0-16 in a season.

While the Lions made history last year, there is always a bright side: it can only get better.

Think about some of your major disappointments of 2008.  I am sure we can all think of things that went really bad that are far more significant than a sports team.

However, this is a new year, and God can even take the hard things and infuse hope for the future.  There are many things I am praying and hoping will happen in 2009 in my life, the life of my family, and the life of our church.

I trust you are hoping as well.

And yes, I even have some hope for those terrible Lions.

Dear pastor. I thought I would comfort you with these words about the Lions. Now I have no special revelation, I have not been caught up to the third heavens and I have not had a vision but I did have the same de lima that you are in. See many years ago I became a Buffalo Sabers hockey fan and I do not know why, it just happened. They were in the gutter ( just like I was before I met Jesus ) of the NHL and for about 6 or 7 years they did not even make the playoffs. Well I continued to be faithful to them and even asked God ( really ) that I would love to see them in the playoffs. Now I see no place in scripture where the Sabers are mentioned, but just like me after getting saved I could only come up to God’s standard’s threw Christ, well only the Saber’s could only get better. Well praise the Lord in 1999-2000 they went to the Stanley Cup final’s with Dallas and it came to the 7 th game where in the third or fourth overtime ( I fell asleep ) that Dallas got a very controversial goal by Brent Hall. Well that’s my comfort to you, hold fast to the Lions, rejoice for ever more, pray with out ceasing and have a great day in Christ. js
